Operation Backpack 2009 was a great success! Hosting the event was East Coast
Believers Church in Casselberry Florida. Along with the host, many merchants
including Big League Haircuts for Men and Boys, Target, WalMart, Tijuana Flats, Del Taco
of Oviedo, Einstein Bagels, and many more local Orlando Merchants that participated, and
made provision of great gift cards that had value into the hundreds of dollars to
make the event a success.
The number of children that received backbpacks filled with school
supplies reached 1250 local students who without cooperation from all levels of businesses
and individuals would not have been one of the most successful organized events of Central
Florida area this year.
With average cost of $80 per child to prepare and have the school
supplies that each child needs, the cost to a family of two or three can easily weigh
in over $150.00. Here in Central Florida, ECBC, with help from community merchants and
online merchants, are striving together every year to fill this financial gap.
Preparations for 2010 are already underway!
